New York Times This Weekend

If you missed it, an excerpt from Bedtime Stories ran in the New York Times for Father's Day yesterday. I'm very proud of the piece:

It was so weird for me. The photo of my dad is my iconic image of him as an older man but when my son saw it he thought it was me dressed up as a mad scientist. I was proud but also a bit offended, I'm not nearly the same age as he was in the photo. But then I took another look and gulped. He's 47 in the picture and I'm 45.

That was too funny about the mad scientist, Trey! I loved the excerpt from BEDTIMES STORIES about your Dad and how close you were and how you were able to share many special times. It's always a bit startling when you become aware of how much you look like a parent :) Your Dad was a handsome man and he passed on those good looks to you and now you have the wonderful and lovely Chet and Ava to carry on the tradition :)

BEDTIME STORIES is a most EXCELLENT book and woohoo for the Dad excerpt in the NY Times on Father's Day!!

This is a GREAT piece about finding the depth of adult friendship with a parent. I was moved by your hands finding his fingers in the hospital and the small details of someone dying that resonate long after their breath stills. I am looking forward to finding a copy of your book.
