Whirlwind
Everybody's too busy, at least here in New York, so it's boring to complain about how overworked and overstretched and behind schedule I am.
But still...
Damn! It's already Wednesday and all the things on my list to do for Monday still aren't done. It's admissions time at Columbia so tomorrow I'm picking up Chet at 11:30 because school's a half day for teacher's conferences, then I go back to school two hours later for the conference, and then I rush him to a friend's and rush up to Columbia to interview prospective students from 2-4 then I pick the kids back up and then I figure out what it is I'm going to read tonight at the Morningside Bookshop here in Manhattan.
I realize that I haven't left the island in months. I'm aching to go anywhere, it doesn't even have to be warm, but I do close my eyes and dream about walking through hot sand and falling into warm water and letting out a sigh that could be heard all the back here. Still, I'm so itching for a break that I'd almost be happy just going out to the airport and sitting in a plane and pretending. What's especially hard is that the kids had their mid-Winter break around President's Day and my spring break is next week. So for each I've been stuck here.
That said, I still love this city so and the wonders around every corner lift my soul.
So I'll shut up my whining and remember again how lucky I am.

Woohoo for your reading tomorrow, Trey!!! Positive vibes for bunches of your fans to come out and hear ya!
I feel your pain about being so so busy and needing a break --- just a tiny getaway.
Like Lenny Kravitz sings ---I want to get away--I want to fly away....yeah yeah yeah!
Reading your books takes me away!
THANKS for the lovely getaways, Trey!
Hope you and the kids get a chance to escape for a long weekend or something --- Good Friday is coming up---a 3 day weekend!
Good luck tomorrow night! Even though my body is in Chicago, I'll be there in NYC in spirt tomorrow.
