The Photo
The photo here on my blog page is one of the last ones from me in LA. I swear I'm not as smug as the photos conveyed. I needed pics quickly and I loved my old car so I ran out to the beach with a friend and took a bunch. I kind of forgot about them until a few weeks ago when I was interviewed by this very beautiful writer for TIme Out New York Kids. She said, "Gee, from your photo on your blog I thought you would be such an asshole." Yikes.
Since then I've been lobbying my web designer to replace all the old ones with these pictures from New York taken by Kwaku Alston, a good friend, an old neighbor from Venice, and a world-class professional (he's also Oprah's photographer).
I think what is making me expunge all records of my time in LA is the fact that I'm finally selling my house there. The car went last fall. The only thing left now is my (310) area code on my cell phone.
What do you think ? Do you have any old photos of yourself that you cling to from another era?

Comments
Well, I still have a photo of me wearing glasses on my blog. I took it of myself last fall, hated it, made it B&W, and now have come to like it. The catch is that I just had LASIK done last month, so everyone keeps asking me when I'm going to post a new photo. (Ok, "everyone" = just my mom and 1 or 2 friends!) Maybe it's the fact I finally got used to seeing my face online, or that I wore glasses/contacts for 30+ years, but I haven't gotten around to taking a new mug shot.
And, glasses or not, I think I look pretty good in that photo. My daughter even told me I looked smart. Why mess with that?!

Back during my youthful adventures (which they still are) I have a picture of myself wearing a fedora with a smirk on my face pointing a squirt gun at the camera. I look back now and I was so young, and just that brash sense of humor youth can get a away with. I hold on to those times :)

Up until about 2 years ago, me, my sister and some other girlfriends would make our annual trip to Rosarito Mexico. The pictures were out of control. It's like "before & after". The "before" pictures being before we hit the clubs and were lookin' cute and "after" lookin' all busted (yet, in our inebriated state, we all thought we were still cute)! Those were the best of times, we laugh so hard looking back on those pictures. They will be memories I will cherish, no matter how we looked. It was about good food, fantastic weather and the best of girlfriends!

Trey, any photo you take has got to be good :) I for one think the photos with you and your car are oh so smooth and jazzy :) My fave photo is the one of you and the kids in Paradise!
Can't wait to see the new ones!

Don't feel too bad. I got slammed by a female friend on a picture in which I thought I was looking pretty good. She said "You look sexy but boring". I thought the two were mutually exclusive!
