The response has been so lovely to my odd and embarrassing letter for a kidney. An old girlfriend who had vowed never again to speak to me (after I had hit on her best friend two years after she'd cheated on me and dumped me) wrote me the sweetest note. It's all been so moving. Like a wake, only like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn I'm alive to hear it.

In other news, I spent the morning getting nodules on my thyroid fine-needle aspirated and then biopsied to see if the cells were cancerous. Though a month early I'd cnearly ried when the E.N.T. doctor had said I should get tested, this time I didn't give a damn. I've been through so much already, I would get through this as well. The results aren't in yet but all the doctors were pretty certain that the news would be great and even the bad news isn't even really all that bad.
